recruiting faq
1. To whom should I address my cover letter?
Addressing your letter to “Dear Recruiting” or “To Whom It May Concern” is just fine. Of more importance is making sure you are applying for the correct job, have the requisite experience, and the appropriate degree requested in the job listing.
2. I really want a job at InForm! How can I get hired?
InForm looks for talented people who have a broad range of interests and specialties. Many new hires have advanced degrees or significant experience working in a specific field, but they’re not specialists. We look for people with at least one deep area of expertise and a broad reach of other skills and experiences to draw on from past employment experience. We hope to find answers to these types of questions: What do you offer? What are your accomplishments? What are your goals? Once we get started in the interview process, we talk to your references, and have enough substantial conversations with you to learn who you are and help you get to know us.
3. How does the recruiting process work?
We have a recruiting team who reviews incoming applications to determine if that person fits an identified need. If you appear to be a fit, we will contact you regarding a phone interview. The informal phone interview is an opportunity for us to find out more about your background, interests, and experience. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about our culture, type of projects, and obtain more detailed information about the role you might play here. If there is a mutual interest, a candidate will be invited for an on‐site interview. The candidate will meet with multiple people in a group setting from various disciplines. Candidates should bring examples of work they’ve done, cool stuff that they are passionate about, and things they want to accomplish. Interviews range from pointed questions about work examples to casual conversations about your interests.
4. Will you contact me regarding the status of my application?
Although we get a tremendous number of applications, we will reply and let you know if we are interested in your application or not. We will review and share your information with the appropriate people inside InForm if you appear to be a fit. If there's an immediate match between your talents and our needs, we will contact you directly within two weeks. If you do not hear from us within that time, please assume that we do not have an appropriate opportunity at that point. Due to the number of applications we receive we do not maintain a file of resumes.
5. Do you require years of experience, or do you hire direct from school?
Generally speaking we find it best that our employees have worked in industry for a few years to develop an understanding of how corporations work, especially manufacturing companies.
6. How can candidates stand out?
We want to know as much as we can about a candidate and their accomplishments. Be specific in outlining how your experience is relevant to our needs. We need everything you send to us to be digital, including your portfolio. Please provide your work in a PDF format or provide a link to a website so we can give you maximum exposure inside our company. Degrees are important, so please do not apply for a position if you do not have the appropriate educational background. Help us get to know you by including additional credentials and distinctions as you see fit.
7. How do you determine cultural fit?
Your overall personality, interests, enthusiasm, and your ability to communicate will tell us what we need to know. Good candidates offer more than a list of former jobs they’ve had or courses they’ve taken. Use your cover letter to tell a story that may not come through on your resume.
8. I still have questions. May I talk with someone?
Unfortunately, due to the volume of applicants we cannot give informal interviews. Please do not email other people from our Contacts page for job inquiries.
