InForm offered turnkey services to design and engineer a new coin dispenser that uses large capacity coin magazines to automatically provide change back to customers in retail and financial environments. The innovative element is an interchangeable rotary coin magazine that allows the user an efficient way to transport, store, and place the magazine into the machine. In addition, form development integrated the product into existing DeLaRue systems and banking environments.
Challenge
InForm was asked to address an extremely difficult challenge, to design and engineer an improved coin dispenser for banking and retail markets. A universal magazine platform was needed to allow for simple currency changes with embedded software code modifications. Requirements for accuracy meant that no miscounts in dispensing change would be acceptable.
Result
The final product is a universal design solution that is both mechanically creative and aesthetically integrated into its environment. Creative drive development and sensing problem solving efforts resulted in one solenoid being used instead of multiples as seen in competitive units. The program’s success was a result of efficient integration of industrial design and mechanical engineering, in tight coordination with DeLaRue’s marketing team.
