Challenge
The common metal paint can had become an industry icon, not due to its superior functionality, but because of its low cost. Usability improvements and significant marketing benefits were needed to justify its replacement. Also critical for success was integrating the new product into current filling, shipping, handling and retailing environments.
Result
The solution is a family of quart and gallon containers featuring extra-wide, easy-to-grip handles, with caps that work together to simplify opening, pouring and reclaiming paint. Features include a lid that doubles as a paint cup and an integral spout to eliminate the mess typically associated with pouring paint. The unique form factor was designed for maximum point-of-sale visibility and to fit in the same space as a traditional metal can.
