Challenge
The TIIGER-I has a base of just 32” x 48”, a boom length of 40 feet, and needs to accommodate loads up to 3,100 pounds. InForm performed analytical engineering on the outrigger mechanism of the proposed design to ensure proper function at the furthest boom extension.
Result
InForm analyzed the structural integrity and footprint of the hydraulic outriggers throughout a 360° boom rotation, to ensure safety and stability. Component stress levels were evaluated relative to the desired 4:1 safety factor, based upon the maximum yield strength of the material. The FEA also accounted for proper load transfer between the parts.
